At Dristex we are one of the last manufacturers of socks in Canada! We have chosen to serve niche and specialized markets: Alpaca, Merino Wool, Bamboo etc … Our motto: produce the best quality, offer the best service and be alert to the needs of the industry! In our little shop at the HighTales Alpaca Farm, we have hand-made knitted and crocheted items available, insoles made from our felts, 100% alpaca fibre dryer balls and Canadian machine-made Alpaca socks. Our yarn comes on cones from the mill and we wrap them off into 100 gram skeins or hanks. Of course they are all natural colours, some 100% alpaca, and others blended with merino or bamboo. We make our own olive oil soaps, as well. No scents or colours added, ideal for folks with sensitive skin. This year we will also have felted soaps, that is, our olive oil soap has alpaca fibre felted around the bar for a lovely exfoliating experience. Products:

Over the last couple of years Kickin Back Alpaca Ranch has become more involved in community events to promote alpacas and alpaca products. During the summer months we attend the Collingwood Farmers Market every Saturday morning and the Thornbury Farmers Market on Sundays bringing with us two alpacas, their own pen and tent. We sell beautifully warm hats, scarves, mitts, shawls, socks, sweaters, rugs, yarns, rovings all made from alpaca. Products:

We are Doug & Carolyn Lilleyman both from Scarborough originally and have changed careers a few times. With the creation of Laslyn Alpaca we have added another line to our resume. Some of you may know that we got our start in the fibre world quite by chance, we had no intention of becoming alpaca farmers. We owned Cedars Cottage Resort and when the farm beside the resort came up for sale we purchased it to expand the resort. We purchased two alpacas to reside in the barn and entertain our guests, then we purchased four more alpacas. Then before we knew it we put the resort up for sale and decided to become alpaca farmers. A huge jump for a couple raised in Scarborough. Products:

Once upon a time, I could not understand why folks would spend so much on alpaca socks when you could get cotton socks for $3 a pair at a discount store. All of our socks are MADE IN CANADA!
