Aromariss was born out of its founder’s curiosity. In 1999, Rissa discovered the beautiful art of soapmaking under the hobbies section of a friend’s wedding photo-sharing site. As with many other soapers, it started as a hobby. But she was in Senegal, with a limited choice in supplies. Rissa set out to create a recipe with shea butter, coconut and palm oil; three oils and butter that are easily available in West Africa. Before starting it, if someone would have told me that I will be making and selling organic skin care products, I would have just laughed it off. After my 2nd son was born I started suffering from anxiety, insomnia, and severe headaches. My family was back in my home country and it was only me and my husband with our newborn baby. My husband had to work all day and I was just not able to handle my elder son who was 3 years with the newborn and that too with a Caesarean section.
