The Crafty Artisans is a small business created by a mother and daughter who took a leap of faith and decided to spend more time doing what brings happiness to their world – creating. Creating has always been such a big part of our lives. I recall as a small girl growing up, watching my mom draw, sew, paint and craft, loving every moment of it. I was never allowed to use the fancy, expensive brushes, paints, pens and I never understood why since I promised to be gentle and take care of them. 2014 was the year that I began wood carving. I went out, bought a board and sat down to begin design. The first sign I ever made was a gift to my wife for our wedding. After that, and a couple more odd projects, we were sitting next to each other one day and she piped up “Goods from Wood”. “What?” I replied. “Goods from Wood” she responded, “You should make this into a business.” We both work full-time jobs but spend our spare time in the shop together whittling away at the next project. Since 2016, I’ve strived to provide uniquely and thoughtfully handmade cards, gift tags and bookmarks made in Canada to help people gift more thoughtfully and save them from awkward gift-giving situations. I chose to start my own business because I was (and still am) tired of the impersonal, mass-produced cards in the market today. I choose to put hours of hard work and thought into every single card, bookmark and gift tag that I create.
