I started selling the Spread’em Kitchen Co. dips at the local farmer’s market to earn some extra money to go on a trip to South America because I was feeling that my current job was lacking purpose and connection and I was going to take some time to think about how I could do something that would affect people in a positive, meaningful way.
All I had was a $500 credit card limit and a cargo bike. I hand cut all the labels to save money and stuck them on with tape. I picked up all my ingredients from the local veggie grocer on my cargo bike because I didn’t own a car and blended hundreds of dips in my little blender in my home kitchen.

Straight from Laurie Rowe’s kitchen in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, these small batch BBQ and dipping sauces take you back to a simpler time. Laurie broke into the market in 2017 with Maple Campfire an old family recipe that conjures up the outdoor feel of canoe trips and trail rides. Hard on the heels of that success came Smokey Smokey, Mrs J’s, Piquant and her new High Class-Lo Carb offering for the health conscious.

Santorini Dairies Inc. has its headquarters in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. In the early 1960’s many Manitoba restaurant and hotel owners needed quality dairy products, such as assortments of rare, or more well-known, European cheeses, dips, and yogurts, and often had to import them.
Gradually, some Manitoba investors and cheese aficionados came together and created partnerships with local producers and experienced cheesemakers who had immigrated from Europe, and although quality was superior, they could not meet the demand to ensure a continuing supply of excellent dairy products in Manitoba.
This is how the dairy plant of Santorini Dairies Inc. was born, first as a wholesaler of outstanding Greek Yogurt and Chlorotyri Feta Cheese, and soon after as a retailer of a wide array of outstanding quality dairy products, gradually expanding from coast to coast across Canada.

Fresh Is Best Salsa Co. started pretty humbly back in the summer of 1999 at our local Kamloops Farmer’s Market. We began making our own fresh salsa at home as we were growing a garden and looking to eat healthier as a family. It had been suggested to us by friends who would taste Colin’s Salsa at parties that we should sell it, they would buy it. So we gave it a go. Armed that first day with 20-500ml Medium Salsa’s and a smile Colin hit the market at 6am. By 10am the smile was gone and the 19 salsa’s sat untouched, as one was opened as a sample but no one had tried it yet… A few hundred people had walked by already. Colin felt like heading home but the market insisted the vehicles and vendors could not leave until noon. Colin stayed reluctantly. Good thing. An hour later… he sold out!
