The Ayotte Custom Drums factory consists of 15,000 sq. ft. and facilities that include paint, wood, assembly and quality control areas. Our staff includes only the finest craftsmen from all over the townships to ensure only the highest quality products are made. Each cut of wood has its own distinctive grains, natural bends, and structural tendencies that must be addressed independently. At Ayotte, every specimen of wood is carefully studied by the discriminating eyes of our Wood Shop craftsmen prior to being nominated for the production process. Hi – My name is Stan, my wifes name is Glynnis, together we started making musical instruments at Bigleaf Musical Instruments about twenty five years ago .I concentrate mostly on stringed instruments, (Mandolins, Irish Bouzoukis, Ukuleles, etc.)While my wife looks after the smaller instruments (Drums, kalimbas, Xylophones, and Zithers)We like selling to musicians, but also to people who have never played an instrument before but always wanted to. So we concentrate on several easy play instruments, our shop motto is “Instruments made to be played” My main love is Celtic music, I have played in several Celtic bands playing Mandolin, Bouzouki, Whistle and flute. We have lived and operated in several parts of Canada, but for the last seven years have settled in the Okanagan Valley, a beautiful wine producing region in central British Columbia, I love making musical instruments (and music) and will continue for as long as I am able. Sylvan Temple Drums makes about 12 different types of Canadian made drums from trees which have been left behind by logging or felled for a variety of reasons by home owners. Darbuka/Doumbek and Djembe drums begin as a section of tree and go on the lathe to become a shell which is seasoned for stability. After seasoning when the shell is needed, it goes back on the lathe to be finish-turned. Darbuka/Doumbek have a round, wide tuning ring which is laminated from steam-bent wood and then tailor-lathed for its shell prior to any drilling operations. For Djembes, metal rings are fabricated in-house and knotted and laced to the shell, holding the skin between them. Part of the drums made in Canada directory. Products:
