Boundary Creek Farm is located in the Interlake, west of Winnipeg Beach. Our farm is a nice mix of trees, yard site, and fertile land. We have 3 acres in vegetables. We are Geoff and Theresa Dyck. We moved here with our 4 kids from Winnipeg in 2001 after a brief time in Southern Ontario apprenticing on organic farms. We both have a rural background, and returning to the “farm” was like coming home for us. Armed with piles of energy and a desire to grow our own food, Boundary Creek Farm started with very modest intentions of supplying others with food. But as the years went by, we naturally began to meet the demand for fresh, local produce, and we have now been selling for almost 20 years! We believe in growing produce naturally, without the use of synthetic chemicals. We have a strong reverence for nature’s balance, choosing to work along with nature, not against her. East Ridge Farms began in 2013. After watching several documentaries about a) how most of the food we were consuming was over processed, full of chemicals, unnecessary additives and GMOs and b) how our current forms of mass scale agriculture are negatively affecting our planet and our health, we decided it was time for a change. East Ridge Farms was born out of a desire to know where our food was coming from and what was in it. It was also born out of a desire to reduce our carbon footprint and try to make some kind of responsible, difference in the world. We want to get our hands in the dirt… get back to the “roots” of what it means to grow food naturally and become more connected to the earth again. We hope to inspire others to do the same. Products:

Railway Creek Farm is a small ecological and regenerative farm on the south edge of the Canadian Shield in Hastings County, Ontario. We are a family that prides itself in producing the freshest, best tasting hard-neck garlic grown right here in Kipling, Saskatchewan. And better yet…it’s grown completely chemical (pesticide) free! Our farm family enjoys living in the country where we have the golden opportunity to grow healthy food. We hand planted our first crop of garlic in the fall of 2010. Our children are Shawn 17, Lanita 15, Linette 14, Sheldon 11 and Sherwin 10. We also custom graze cattle and have our own little sheep flock. Kevin enjoys seeing vast differences in land when we switch from being “garlic farmers” and “cattle ranchers” to soil farmers~ soil builders. We are always trying to improve the quality of our soil by increasing the microbial activity in the soil. Cocktail cropping, polycropping, and avoiding monocultures is the first vital step in combating disease in our crops. Our founder, Lorna Lumb, believes that when it comes to produce, the best quality can be found in your own backyard. The quality of items found in grocery stores prompted her to experiment with growing herbs and garlic locally, and what she discovered was that many people go a lifetime without experiencing fresh, chemical-free produce that is nutrient dense and abundant in flavour. She is pathologically curious and wants to know what home grown and dried herbs and spices would taste like — experimenting with things like ground paprika and hot peppers. Twilight Herbs and Garlic now has plots (and a small greenhouse) full of quality, chemical-free herbs and garlic that she sells fresh and handcrafted into the unique blends that many have come to know and enjoy. We grow our house garden the way our ancestors did before someone thought it was a good idea to grow food with chemicals. The Twilight fields are grown the same way, but with new ideas, biotic* methods, and technology to maximize efficiency, quality, and yields. We start with maximizing soil health by minimizing tilling and carefully choosing cover crops to add organic matter, nutrients, and improve nutrient uptake to the herb and garlic crops. If necessary, we add only biotic soil amendments and as a last resort only, we will employ pest and disease control methods that are listed in the Organic Production Systems Permitted Substances Lists. At Twilight Herbs and Garlic we also follow the Organic Production Systems General Principles and Management Standards, and our own proven biotic methods. All of these practices help to create an ecosystem that attracts beneficial organisms and build nutrient dense soils, which help to grow nutrient dense food. Erich played the cello most of his life and in the last 15 years, while touring, he began to garden on a large scale. Now, retired from touring, he and AnneBruce Falconer maintain a small, diverse farm called Liberterre. Erich has a special interest in plants, having started with vegetables, he now is focusing on medicinal herbs. With these plants he creates healing salves and creams, tinctures and herbal concoctions, which are proving very effective in fighting the woes of the Baby-Boomer generation. Liberterre has a winter and early Spring production of salads, scallions and carrots, thanks to our Greenhouse. We specialize in Garlic and Peppers, as well as a large variety of Heirloom Tomatoes.
