Dr. Boxin Wanglin at Healthcare Acupuncture Centre began learning about Chinese medicine at the age of 9 and received her MD in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Heilongjiang University in 1987. She then joined the Harbin Orthopaedics and Traumatology Hospital and the Peking University Hospital as a doctor.
She started conducting research in 1989 in the Department of Biology at Peking University on herbal plants. She then joined the Institute of Developmental Biology at the Chinese Academy of Science as a research scientist to conduct molecular biology and the response of meridians and nerve systems during the acupuncture process. After moving to Canada, she practised acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, and taught acupuncture and herbal medicine at the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, McEwan University and Reeves College in Alberta.
