My studio of stringed instruments has 30 plus years of history in the creating and building…not only the status quo….but, pieces that are unique and one of a kind. It is my attention to the fine details that complete the artistic craftsmanship and upon completion allow these pieces to be timeless and in some cases, have become family heirlooms. All of my instruments are individually hand crafted by me from designing, selecting all the materials, hand shaping the parts, inlaying and applying the finishes. Products:

Just one of our innovations involves the double bass. A huge, generously proportioned instrument measuring over 1.9 metres, the double bass is difficult to transport, making it very costly for classical, jazz and popular musicians who must pay considerable over-baggage charges to travel by airplane to overseas concerts, as well as increasing the risk of damage. That’s why since 1995 Lamarre, who is constantly looking for new ways to meet his clients’ needs, has been making a semi-acoustic “Lamario” bass with a removable neck, a relatively small instrument that is much easier to transport. The Ayotte Custom Drums factory consists of 15,000 sq. ft. and facilities that include paint, wood, assembly and quality control areas. Our staff includes only the finest craftsmen from all over the townships to ensure only the highest quality products are made. Each cut of wood has its own distinctive grains, natural bends, and structural tendencies that must be addressed independently. Windward Flutes started in 2001 as a small company repairing conical bore simple system wooden flutes. Forbes and Yola Christie moved operations to Nova Scotia in 2004, built a new flutemaking workshop and began developing the finely crafted Irish flutes that Windward makes today for musicians worldwide. Forbes had previously spent fourteen years working in the metal flute industry, first at Brannen Brothers Flutemakers, then as manager of the body department at V. Q. Powell Flutes. Yola is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, studied with British and American silversmiths, and ran her own silversmithing business in Massachusetts. Together they design and manufacture their own flutes. Forbes does the machining, makes jigs and tools and carves the embouchures; Yola executes keywork and finish, makes the flute blanks, and runs production.
