Brassica Mustard got its start in 1995 when founders Karen Davis and Desmond Johnston were looking to make Christmas gifts for family and friends. In 2001, after persistent encouragement from friends and family, Karen and Desmond made a more concerted effort at a sustained business venture. Committing themselves to using the highest quality Alberta grown mustard seed and local honey they soon created and launched two original mustard flavours: Brassica Roasted Garlic and Cranberry Honey. The Horseradish and Dill recipes followed soon after with Black Pepper being added on Brassica’s 10th anniversary in 2011.

With 18 years of production under it’s belt, Brassica Mustard has become a recognized and respected brand, offering a line of mustard products that have set a new standard for both chefs and home cooks to appreciate. It is a high quality Alberta-made food product that enjoys tremendous popularity amongst discerning condiment geeks and food professionals far and wide.

With a ton of help and guidance from Karen, the mustard torch was passed in the spring of 2019 as the invaluable recipes and production techniques were handed over and given new opportunity to be sustained and developed. As of this writing, Eric’s Canadian specialty foods company, Meta4 Foods, has became the home base for Brassica Mustard. Using the strengths of his unique repertoire of ingredients, Eric is hard at work in creating another round of new flavours for Brassica fans to enjoy. And if you know anything about the proclivities of Eric’s palate, you have a good idea where this explorations are headed!
