Featherstone Estate Winery produced its first vintage – a “whopping” 300 cases – in 1999. This year, 2019, marks Featherstone’s 20th vintage and production now is about 9,000 cases annually. Most of the wines appear in Vintages/LCBO releases throughout the year, and the Cabernet Franc and Riesling are always available in the Vintages/LCBO Essentials Collection.
There is a lot of emphasis on “passion” in the wine industry but for us, it is as much about curiosity– an intense, unquenchable desire to learn, figure out how things work…and then have some fun doing it really well. At the 2019 Ontario Wine Awards presentation our very own David Johnson was named Winemaker of the Year. He’s humbled and overwhelmed, and pretty darn happy! The timing is great – the Ontario Wine Awards are celebrating their 25th year, and here at Featherstone, we’re celebrating our 20th vintage.
