Founded in 1948 by Stanislas Fortin and Elmina Labbé, the Laiterie Charlevoix, is still today owned by Labbé family. The rear – small – children of Stanislaus and Elmina are the fourth generation to work in the company. Originally dedicated to the dairy trade in Charlevoix and the North Shore, the company has adapted over the years to turn to the production of fine cheeses and cheddar cheese. Charlevoix Dairy productsare distributed throughout Canada.

Today, the company took a major environmental shift by converting its whey energy. She chose to establish partnerships with young agricultural producers to safeguard dairy farms in Charlevoix.

Elle is also involved in the Canadian cow rescue project by helping three farmers and supporting financially “L ‘Enhancement Association of Canadian purebred cattle in Charlevoix “. Finally it is more than a cheese factory found on the site. It is an Economuseum, a rest area, a museum, an interpretation center and a shop where regional products are in evidence.
