Since I was young, drawing and painting were my main creative outlets. It was not until 2015 when polymer clay was first introduced to me. From there, what began as a hobby blossomed into a passion to create decorative and wearable art. Hence, Perching Clay Art was developed.
Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Perching Clay Art is a collection of my work that is meticulously handcrafted out of polymer clay and without any involvement of paint or ink. However, the only time I use paint is to accentuate textures that I etch freely by hand. The techniques I predominantly use are Millefiori and Mokume Gane, which involves rolling, manipulating and slicing layers of clay.
My work is recognized for being colourful and intricate. An element of fantasy is applied to my designs to create playful, one-of-a-kind pieces that tell stories to the observer. Some pieces are intricate with contrasting colours that demand attention; others are abstract and fluid, creating mystery and delicacy.
