Innovation and modern European production technology were brought to North America when Uniboard opened the first fully integrated particleboard and TFL manufacturing facility in 1982. Located in Sayabec, Quebec, the Sayabec mill started with a state-of-the-art particleboard line and two TFL presses. Total production capacity at the time was 130 million square feet of particleboard and 60 million square feet of TFL.
In 2016 Uniboard completed the most innovative product launch in the North American TFL arena at the IWF trade fair: it launched its second Synchro/EIR finish, Riviera Oak, with a deep embossed texture called Sequoia. and a linen plate called Calico, a ”1st” for a North American TFL manufacturer. The new finishes are complemented by 17 new colour additions to the Uniboard TFL palette making Uniboard’s line the most comprehensive TFL product in North America as a result of our $25 million investment in press #6 in our Sayabec facility.
