Ron purchased the farm from his mother in 1977. He married Phyllis in 1989, and they have three children, Blair, Ashley and Carrie. Phyllis currently lives at the farm with the children and is a partner in the Williamson Farms. Allan and his wife Chris, live west of the home farm operation, just next door. They have 3 daughters, Nicci, Jill and Gwen. You can see some of them helping with markets and events on the farm. As the managing partner of Williamson Farms, Allan is responsible for the farm crops and livestock. We grow in rotation, food grade soybeans, wheat and corn. We raise the beef cattle and chickens with our own farm grown corn. Gwen started her own business, Gwen’s Garden Produce in 2005, and offers a variety of home grown vegetables, garlic, herbs, plants. At Slate River Dairy Jim and Wilma Mol believe that customer should have access to the highest quality milk, in its most natural state, straight from the cow and only pasteurized. The milk gets pasteurized at 63 Celcius for 30 minutes and it does not get homogenized so the cream rises to the top, even in the cocoa milk. We raise Berkshire pigs that are not in tiny pens but rather one large pen. In summer they are free to go in and out of the barn as they wish. Our meat chickens are raised in free-run pens and feed on grass, weeds, and bugs. We do supplement their feed. As quantities are limited, we ask you pre-order your chickens if possible to avoid disappointment. Our egg chickens (browns) are also raised this way. Our feed is about 1/2 feed we mill ourselves and 1/2 bought from the feed mill. In March 2014, the Fedosoff’s purchased this wonderful riverfront property which not only included a beautiful home but an established APPLE ORCHARD, Petrofka Orchard. We were shocked, along with many others, that full-size tasty apples can successfully be grown in Saskatchewan. In four short years, we have expanded our product line (approximately 50 now), renovated the country store, purchased a clay oven, started offering weekend, school and group tours and further improved the land to include over 1.5 km of beautiful walking trails and riverfront picnic area for all to enjoy.
